MS MR

MS MR is a Brooklyn-based duo that calls its music a blend of “Tumblr glitch pop, soul fuzz, and electro-shock.” MS (London-born Lizzy Plapinger from Neon Gold Records) takes on all vocal duties as MR (Idaho native Max Hershenow) handles music and production.

They will release their brand new single "Fantasy" on March 10th 2013. This will be followed by their much-anticipated debut album Second Hand Rapture, which will be out May 14th on Columbia Records.

There is such and enigmatic epic feeling to "Fantasy," with its full vocals, and pounding drums. This song is a huge rush of cinematic electro pop, and I am addicted to the chic, soaring vocals, piano, and hand clapping.

Their sound has all the elements of Florence Welch or Marina and The Diamonds

Wild Belle

Chicago’s own Wild Bell is composed of the brother-sister duo, Elliot and Natalie Bergman.

I will be seeing them perform live when they tour with Toro Y Moi, so I recently started exploring their music. Let me just say, I have been missing out. Their music is right up my alley with it's uplifting reggae beat, 60's vibe, and sultry vocals. "Keep You" and "It's Too Late" are equally amazing, listen to them each below.

"Wild Belle’s music offers a blend of unmistakable reggae with the aforementioned saxophone and intelligent rhythms from jazz, ‘stir it up’ with some rock ‘n’ roll and a dash of pop, and you are beginning to put together a recipe that can describe the work of this funky family affair." - The Line of Best Fit

Disclosure: Artist You Should Know

"Latch" is a song by British garage-house duo Disclosure, featuring vocals from Sam Smith.
The track is taken from the duo's forthcoming debut album.

This song is simply amazing with its seductive appeal and strong rhythm. They create a unique take on house music with gorgeous, soulful vocals and heavy R&B influences. Not to mention the amazing progression for the "drop" at 1:20... this song will have you hooked!

"It’s no wonder why brother Guy and Howard Lawrence’s first single climbed to the #11th position of UK Charts and stayed there for a good time."- ET MUSIQUE POUR TOUS

It's been a whirlwind year for these guys and they have a lot of momentum heading into 2013.

Elliphant

Ellinor Olovsdotter slowly morphed into Elliphant through the course of a long (and lost) summer travelling in the UK with only a dubstep soundsystem for company. After falling in love with the urban music sounds of London she returned home to Stockholm, on Sweden’s East Coast, boasting sizzling MC skills and some serious lyrical prowess.
Now, having already won over the likes of Dazed & Confused ["all abstract lyrcisms and cheap dirty beats"], NME “[amazing'"], Pitchfork “[Elliphant sound like nothing but the future"] and the Guardian ["strangely captivating"] from afar’, Elliphant is preparing a return to these shores. (via Soundcloud)
"Listen and you wont be surprised that Elliphant is from Sweden. Listen closer and you may be surprised by the amount of Reggae seeping through the sticky seems of this jam." - The Burning Ear

The beat caught my attention on this track, it's infectious and I love the sly infusion of Reggae.

Genre: Swedish Electro Indie Pop
Sounds Like: M.I.A, Niki & The Dove

The Airplanes

The Airplanes come to us from Fayetteville, Arkansas producing indie rock with a very upbeat, pop sound and influences that remind me of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. The band released their self-titled debut album near the end of last year and I have spotlighted 3 tracks below.

“Paper Hearts” emits a very summery, beach-y feel that teeters on the verge of surf rock and mixes with a garage lo-fi sound, creating a catchy foot-tapping melody and rhythm.

The single “A Summer Daydream Part I” surely has the feel of a hazy, hot summer day, and is sunny and upbeat thanks to the fuzzy, distant vocals, shimmering synths, glistening guitars, and a steady, tribal drum beat. Somehow the song conjures up the image of blazing August day by the lake with friends, barbecuing, keeping the beer cold and enjoying the beautiful scenery painted by The Airplanes. -Indie Rock Cafe

Asbjørn

There is something that stole my attention when I pressed the play button below that I can't quite figure out. It could have been the glitter, or the weird and dark pop sound emitting from my speakers.

Meet Asbjørn, the 19 year old solo artist from Denmark. He is producing music that I can only describe as, dramatic pop music. My favorite track "The Criminal" has an instantly addictive beat matched with emotional and seductive vocals relentlessly pulling you in. If you feel like experimenting with a strangely seductive, gloomy pop tune, check out this track.

So which was it? I'm still trying to figure that out, listen below and let me know what you think.

The Little Ones

Let me introduce Los Angeles’ six-piece band, The Little Ones and the first single from their upcoming full-length album The Dawn Sang Along, out February 12 via the Branches Recording Collective

"Argonauts" is a breezy summery tune reflective of The Little Ones' upbeat, tropical take on indie-pop.
