Generationals SXSW 2013

It's high time I do a post on this New Orleans' duo. Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer are the men behind the indie rock outfit Generationals

"Sale City" is my favorite track of the bunch. It has your usual synth sound but strays from the rest with its dark 80's heroin chic vibes.

Listen to "Sale City" and "Lucky Numbers" from their EP, Lucky Numbers below:

"Spinoza" is the first track released from their upcoming album Hezaand gives you an idea of their true indie rock sound with heavy guitar influences. The album is out April 2nd and was produced in part by Spoon's Jim Eno (who also worked on the new Telekinesis).

Trails and Ways SXSW 2013

I first fell in love with Trails and Ways in BIRP's August 2012 playlist. I really enjoyed their track "Mtn Tune" and it has been ranked with 5 stars in my iTunes ever since. After doing some exploring to see what else they had to offer, my love grew stronger. This group is inspiring and uplifting, and it is a rare find when you uncover a band where all of their songs are good, and not to mention, true vocal talent. I am very excited to share this group and look forward to them in Austin at SXSW 2013.

This Oakland four-piece has been gaining a lot of momentum over the past several months and have landed themselves on countless "Best of 2012" lists. Trails and Ways has a way of matching male and female vocals with synth sounds, progressive beats, and summery guitar melodies that is unmatched.

You will enjoy the overflow of creativity in the way they construct their music with low repition, and well crafted, dramatic beats.

There is no order for listening to these, close your eyes, point, and click play.

Their forthcoming debut LP, Trilingual is set to release early this year.

You can download "Mtn Tune," "Nunca," and "Border Crosser" for FREE by liking the band's facebook page.

Be sure to check out the rest of their tracks on the bands Soundcloud.
